REPORTS
Another good weekend "better" if the wind would stop blowing but saratoga treated me well this weekend with more "huge" largemouths they are moving into the 6 to 8 ft depths. I played for some walleyes but no takers lots of fish follow right up to the boat and turn around.I played with some smallmouth carbon copy 2 lbrs but there were lots of them to make it fun.
I Got Henry Marshall out for the first time this year cold this morning but all I can say is wow!!! Saratoga is unreal! We put over 40 largemouth in the boat with one that was over 7lbs and one over 6 1/2 lbs also 15 in the 3 to 5lb range, the best part we caught them all before11.30 am.

2/8 Saratoga lake ice is gone only time before crappies start moving into the shallows. Hudson river has been fishing great loads of largemouths starting to move into there prespawn locations. Lake Ontario is starting to fireup lots of browns being caught on stickbaits in 8 to fifteen ft of water.
2/3 Sorry for not updating in a couple of weeks I have been fishing. Took a trip back out to the river and oswego this past weekend and had a ball started on oswego and put 7 steelhead on before 10 am with the wind cracking I couldn't float the harbor for the browns,so drove to salmonriver for the afternoon. I started down low and put fish on right away on eggsacks and berkley trout worms all under floats. Sunday fished salmonriver in the am 9 deg slush untill 9.30 or so and o hookups. headed for oswego and it was the thing to do casting, white tube jigs for browns lots of three to four lb fish. I will be starting my spring walleyes soon they are starting to stage on the hudson lots of 15 to 20" males up on the flats.
1/7 Saratoga lake has been slow going you catch them one day and have to fish you butt of the next. walleyes have been early am or at night between 7pm and 11pm on outside weedlines. Salmon river fish being caught upriver, schoolhouse, wirehole. Don't give up on the mid to lower river sections new fish are still coming in the river.
2/14 I drove up to salmon river and fished for half a day in the ice storm. Water running 1100 cfs I fished lower river and didn't see another person all day. Floated eggsacks under a float and caught two in the 4 to six lb range and lost two more one was a real good fish that tailed me out and never stopped. The fish were in the slower seams and it took acouple of good drifts to get them to take. The water is cold, fish slow!
2/2 Saratoga has been fishing good, numbers of perch and walleyes on the outside weedlines. Salmon river has been fishing great lots of bigger steelhead made there way in after the last high water. Egg sacks under floats and black stoneflies have been working great.
Been on the ice fishing on saratoga has been ok.We put eight walleyes on the ice and a half a bucket of perch sat and four walleyes on sunday. The fish all have been around weed edges fished in the depths 20ft+ sun not a hit.
1/16 Been on the ice last week thin and slow. Salmon river running high last week and back down to fishable levels. Fish are in the river from top to bottom egg sacks under floats and flys have been producing.
12/24 fishing on the Salmon and Oswego has been good. Resent rain will bring the water up and with it new fish. Slush has been a pain but start up high in the morning and fish down . I wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
12/10 fished the lower river with Stivasen Brown for his first float fishing trip,I set him up with a BERKLEY Tactix and berkley 8lb 100% floro, a great starter float rod. Fishing was alittle slow to start but picked up around eleven moving around was the key we would hook up right off the get go then nothing, move and hit a fish. we went back and fourth fishing spots for 20mins then moving again.
11/24 Don is back for a trip with bigredoutfitters Cold Day it was 7 this morning. The fishing slowed down a bit from what it was. But we had a good day moved around and put 9 fish on the bank.

11/10 I took a solo trip up to the river to do some fishing. I ended up walking to get away from the mobs of people and it was worth it. I hit some beautiful runs that were full of steelhead. I put nine fish on, in two spots all on blue and green eggsacks under floats.
11/6 Salmon river is fishing great loads of steelhead from top to bottom egg patterns are taking most of the fish. Its a great time to fish the river.
10/27 Got to go on a first float trip in the new boat, with Jason and his father, we fished from altmar to pineville. lots of leaves in the water fishing slow for us. Jay "AKA" chubs managed his limit of chubs, his dad landed a nice steelhead on a float. Rain 90% of the day.
10/15 I fished with Dan and Jim for there first time to salmon river. We hit the lower river in the dsr we made it to my run, and it had 30 fish in it right off the get go, and more moving up river. It was a unbelievable day with the amount of fish moving up river, nonstop action all day. We also ended up with a 15.9 lb steelhead and a 10.2 steelhead and one four pounder and five more lost.

Dan with a 10.2 lb steelhead caught with a berkley airIM7 rod 10'6 noodle w/ 15lb trilene 100% flurorocarbon.
Four lb steelhead caught on A fenwick hmx rod with a fenwick nighthawk 8 wt reel.

15.9 lb steelhead. Caught on a egg pattern w/fenwick 8wt hmx rod on 8 lb trilene 110% flurocarbon.
10/8 10/9 Took the bass boat to fish lake ontario this weekend, with the water so low loads of catchable fish in the lake. I started trolling flatfish, j-13 Rapalas and spoons in the 15 to 30 foot ranges and it seemed slow with the 40 other boats doing the same thing. I landed 4 nice kings.

Sat am I hit the launch at 4am with the wind cracking into the harbor. I waited until I could see before going out into four to six ft waves, in A bass boat the smart thing to do any way. I tryed trolling again it was to rough headed in for a cup of coffee, and spotted loads of fish shallow I pulled out the fenwick bass rod w/30lb powerpro and hit a fish on the first cast,a big male king low 20lb range. And sat there for a while until I was forced off by other boats trying to get in on the action. I pulled off and waited until they got discouraged and left fishless. I went back in and ended up catching 11 loosing 10 more A great day!
9/25 The salmon river is still at record low water levels. Salmon are trying to come up but holding off the river, at the mouth staging for the big push. Night trips have been producing record catches flat lineing glow spoons, flatfish and fast tracks 60 to 65 ft behind the boat,in 8 to 25 ft of water. If you can handle fishing at night, for now it has been the ticket.
9/22 Fished salmon river this afternoon water level is still low 100cfi lots of cohos in the pools with some kings mixed in. The deeper pockets are what I keyed in on,but the fish are skiddish. I ended up going down to a five lb leader to get hook ups, but lost lots of fish, in the low water and exposed rocks it made it tough. By the end of the day fish 11 me 0.
9/9 Spent the weekend on the salmon and oswego river. I took the drift boat ride sat am to the oswego and didn't see a fish yet some small browns at the falls. After lunch I drove back to the salmon river. I fished below the village pool for three hours and caught four kings all on a homemade fly.Sunday I fished village down to the staircase and only saw one salmon. We need rain soon rivers are three ft low.
A picture of one of the 17 lb male king salmon from 9/8
8/8 Took a drive to do some searching on the salmon river. I saw some kings mid to lower river its no major run. The salmon were running down stream instead of up. I managed to put three fish on two kings in the twenty lb class that kicked my butt and won, and one 12lb coho. There were some fisherman but with such a nice day I thought there would be more. Next weekend drift boating the Oswego I can't wait!
8/27 salmon river has some fish lower river seems to be the place to be. The water level is 185 cfis ,fish the pools and tailouts for moving fish. I will have to take the drift boat up.
8/25 fished a open tournament on Saratoga I couldn't keep a big fish hooked we put on seven fish over four pounds with two monsters I don't know why the smaller fish would have it buried. 14 lbs won for five we should had it with 22lbs but let it go again. Thats three tournaments in three weeks I should of won. the fish were in twelve plus ft of water on isolated clumps of deep weeds that you can't see.
8/18 The cold weather is coming that means one thing SALMON TIME!! The salmon are on there way in to the outer tribs, they are in the 100ft range.I am sure there are fish in the rivers all ready if someone wanted to hunt for a fish or two. Saratoga lake largemouths are schooling up if you find one big one its not alone. Fished A open tournament sat solo caught lots of fish in the late morning in the eight foot range, on senkos and texas rigged worms on 30 lb power pro with a 3/8 worm weight. The weight seemed to make the difference. The fish hit it on the drop, and if I didn't use the power Pro I wouldn't know I had a hit.I had big fish of the tournament a 5.14 largemouth.
drop.8/3 fished with Keith Aunchman and Rashawn Harris on Saratoga a beautful day, fishing was up and down today fish were active in the morning when Keith caught his first close to six lb largemouth with a senko. Later in the day we found the bass tight to the bottem with texas rigged 7in worms. Keith was the man for size and Rashawn had the numbers. They are both worm flipping pros now. Great job guys!
7/30 fished a half day with Larry and his grandson Josh A hot calm day we put some quality fish in the boat found them in 11ft of water tight to the bottem in the weeds.
7/21 fished champlain today lots of fish early until around 11am then the bite shut right down. Moved to the points and managed to catch about fifteen more largemouths on senkos and jigs.
7/17 Saratoga starting to turn back on mixed bags of big largemouths and walleye are being caught.Boat traffic is a factor. Lake Champlain is the "quit" place to be, low water pulled fish to points and outer weed beds 30 plus fish days aren't out of the question.
7/7Lots of fish today but size is down,I am begining to think the weed killer they put in the lake has done more damage then good.
7/4 spent a windy, wet day on toga the fish are schooled up in key spots senkos, worms and jigs have been working for bigger fish. The walleye bite has slowed down they have moved out of the 13ft of water, out to the 17 ft depths. They have been moving in early and late in the day. Lake Champlain water levels being low pulled all the fish out of the shallows to outside weed lines and deeper points again senkos, spinnerbaits, jigs fished in the outer edges will produce numbers of largemouth and northern pike.
7/1 Hit Saratoga solo today found it a bit slow with the cold front.I managed to catch two walleyes cranking outside weed lines and about fifteen bass, the size on the bass is getting better 4 lb plus fish are moving to there summer hideouts flipping holes in the weeds worked for me today.
6/28 I got together with Jack for a afternoon trip lets say Jack and I had the jinks on us. We had plenty of chances for a big largemouths 7 or 8 over the four lb class with a couple of real rod benders. The fish kicked our butts.
6/20 fished with Jack Paasch today, all I have to say it was hot and slow fishing. I have to commend Jack for sticking with it. We ended up jumping around catching some bass and some real nice walleyes. The bass are in there after the spawn don't want to bite mode plus the weed killer they put in the lake isn't helping much either.
6/17 Fished a local tournament today after getting burnt by a so call friend, I fished a couple spots that produced numbers of fish but no monsters like in the past weeks. All fish caught on 7" watermellon senkos rigged wacky style on a 1/0 matzuo hook
6/9 I fished a half day, I went to the same aeras as last week and caught four walleys, and about 20 bass. The biggest walleye was 25 1/2 inches the rest were in the 18 to 20 in class. I had allot of follows after the sun got high.
6/4 Fished hard this weekend rain, heat we had it all I fished for bass in the am on Saratoga and had a great time. It is a crankbait fishermans dream. I fished the outer edges of the weeds w/ some smaller fish, I moved in to the mid depth 8ft, and there they were suspended over the weeds. I used a bandit 300 series in mistake color, and a 1/2 oz rattle trap blk gold. Afternoon I went out after some walleyes, and limited out with, one 27 1/8 in monster
Saratoga Bass are on the move up to the shallows, they are in all three stages of the spawn. Lake champlain is A little behind Saratoga. The bigger bass are in there transition spots, points, deeper banks close to the spawning aeras.Smaller males w/smaller females are shallow, moving baits will catch these fish.
